Concerns about Bishop Binzer in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati

Posted: 2021-03-21

The St. Peter Damian Society has learned that Bishop Binzer of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati has been assigned as a pastor to the St. John Neumann / Corpus Christi parochial cluster.

Bishop Binzer resigned as auxiliary Bishop of the archdiocese in 2020 after concerns were raised about his failure to report Fr. Geoff Drew to the archdiocese.

Father Geoff Drew was accused of raping a 10-year-old altar boy and is currently scheduled to face trial in April 2021.

The report that Bishop Binzer has been assigned as a pastor raises concerns about the seriousness with which the Archdiocese of Cincinnati views the failure to report child sexual abuse and clerical misconduct. The Society hopes that the archdiocese will clarify the situation and calls for everyone to pray for the victims of Fr. Drew.
